Reports & Appeals
Reports & Appeals
Reporting on ONETO exists to give users a direct way to flag a specific problem on the parts of the platform that support it today. It is one part of how ONETO works toward trust and safety — alongside structured Tasks, evidence, and platform records — not a complete moderation or appeals system on its own.
What You Can Report Today
In-product reporting is available for Signal content and Signal comments. When reporting either, a user selects a specific reason: spam, privacy or confidential information, an unsupported accusation, harassment, a malicious link, or another reason described in free text. This is the current scope of in-product reporting — it does not yet extend to every surface on the platform (see "Surfaces Not Yet Covered" below).

How a Report Is Submitted
Reporting requires being signed in. A user opens the report action on a Signal or a Signal comment, selects the reason that best fits, and may add a short optional note with additional context. A user can report a given Signal or comment once; submitting again on the same item does not create a duplicate record. Submitting a report does not require the reported content to be removed first, and the reported user is not notified that a report was filed.
What Happens After a Report
A report is stored as a platform-internal record, together with the reason selected and any details provided. It is not visible to other users, and submitting a report does not itself change how the content or account appears on the platform.
Reports are stored as internal records and may be reviewed using available operational processes. ONETO does not currently provide an in-product moderation queue or user-visible case-tracking system. There is no fixed response time, and not every report results in a reply to the person who filed it.
Platform governance and terms describe a broader set of possible outcomes ONETO may apply where supported — for example restricting visibility, removing content, or restricting an account. Those describe reserved rights ONETO may exercise using the tools available at the time, not an automatic or guaranteed action attached to every report. The one content-removal action available directly in the product today is a Signal author or comment author removing their own content; a separate, staff-initiated removal or suspension action specifically triggered by a report is not yet a built, deployed workflow.
Recorded today
The report itself, stored as an internal record with the selected reason and any details. Author self-removal of their own Signal or comment.
Reserved, not yet an automated workflow
Staff-initiated content removal, visibility restriction, or account suspension triggered specifically by a report.
What Reporting Does Not Mean
- A report is not a finding that a violation occurred.
- Submitting a report does not itself remove, hide, or restrict the reported content.
- A report does not generate a case number, ticket, or a status a user can track.
- Multiple reports on the same content do not automatically escalate or trigger a specific outcome.
- A report is not a substitute for contacting law enforcement or emergency services.
Surfaces Not Yet Covered
Tasks, profiles (including organization profiles), and direct messages do not currently have an in-product reporting entry point. If a concern involves one of these surfaces, it cannot yet be raised through in-product reporting; use available account or platform contact channels instead. Extending reporting to these surfaces is a known gap, not yet built into the product.

Review / Appeal Boundary
ONETO does not currently operate a formal, tracked appeal process. If a user wants to add context after a report or a related decision, available contact channels can be used to do so, but this is not arbitration, an independent review board, or a legal proceeding, and it does not replace a user's legal rights or the role of public authorities. A broader, structured appeal process is a known gap, not yet built into the product.
Contact channel ≠ arbitration or appeal.
Urgent or Real-World Safety Issues
In-product reporting is not built or monitored for emergencies. A real-world, immediate safety threat should always go to local emergency services, not to ONETO. Reporting a Signal or comment does not alert emergency responders and should not be relied on for anything time-critical or safety-critical.
Privacy and Reporter Information
A submitted report is linked internally to the reporting user for review purposes, but the reported user is not shown who filed a report or that a report exists. Reporter information is handled under the Privacy Policy: used to support review and, where necessary, safety or legal purposes — not shared with the reported user, and not used for marketing.
Misuse of Reporting
Reporting is meant for genuine concerns that match the listed reasons. False, retaliatory, or bad-faith reporting may itself violate ONETO's platform rules.
Reporting today gives users a working way to flag Signal content and comments and creates a platform record that can support review where operationally available. It is an early part of a larger trust-and-safety capability that is still being built — not yet a full moderation or appeal system covering every part of the platform. As more of that capability is built, this page will be updated to reflect it.
